ASPERGER'S SYNDROME
This is a page devoted to information on Non Verbal Learning Disorders (NVLD), Pervasive Development Disorders & specifically on Asperger's Syndrome
If your child has Bipolar, I feel it is a good idea that you read up on Asperger's Syndrome.  This is a disorder with deficits in some of the same areas as Bipolar.  The disorder can look a lot like Bipolar, and the information on how to help an Aspie kid will always be helpful to a parent of a Bipolar child; all our kids will fit somewhat behaviorally / emotionally and there's a wealth of information on schools, IEP, and help with emotional & socialization deficits
(all in my unprofessional opinion!)

Click here for a screening tool for Aspergers,  and also for a good "overview" of what Aspergers looks like

O.A.S.I.S.  Probably the main Asperger's organizations out there       Also, the Autism Society: http://www.autism-society.org/

Here's one called Autism/PDD - Resources Network

This is an EXCELLENT IEP help and information site

Or try this one:  "Educational Implications: Ideas for Classroom Management"

This site is entitled Resources for Recovery: Autism/PDD/Hyperlexia.  Has lots of good info re: Education and treatment options:

GREAT site on behavioral problems.  Don't let the title fool you - it's for Aspergers kids, but all our kids fit that description behaviorally speaking and this has GREAT info on school, IEP, etc., etc. for behaviorally / emotionally challenged.
